The UWG is only minutes away from stunning Lake Tahoe from their base in Reno, NV.

The mission of the Unnamed Writers' Group is to help writers write (whether published, prepublished or unpublished) and provide education, inspiration, support and connections to writers and to the community.

It doesn't get much simpler than that, but here are the strict and demanding membership requirements:

  • You have to write.
  • You have to care about writing and writers.
  • Oh, and you have to pay your annual dues...

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!

We set-up at 9:30am and begin the meeting at 10am at the Evelyn Mount Community Center - 1301 North Valley Road in Reno.

Upcoming Programs:

September 11, 2010

David Sundstrand: author of Shadow of the Raven and Shadows of Death will illustrate why he likes writing fiction and how the writer can punish the wicked, reward the just and mock the fools. But best of all, he'll share why fictional writing is the only place where a person can make sure things come out right or horribly wrong!  Join us for some of the ins and outs of the writing process, creating a good start, mastering character driven plots, and yes, he'll tease us with a few words about agents, publishers and the state of the book business. Don't be late to get a good seat!

UNR professor Christopher Coake will dazzle us: Using the Writer's Camera. Coake will discuss the different points of view (1st, 2nd, and 3rd persons, and all variations thereof), provide examples of work written in each, and discuss specifically how an author's choice of point of view has enormous consequences for a work.
